A Look at what is Under Construction in Vancouver
Vancouver has garnered the reputation of a city that is always under construction. During the past decade the construction crane has become a permanent fixture on the Vancouver skyline, a symbol of a decade of prosperity and economic expansion. Despite the economic uncertainty of the last few years, there are still a number of high rise projects under construction in the downtown core of Vancouver.
Jameson House
Expected to open in 2011, Jameson House is a mixed use residential building that will emphasize sustainable living. The project has been built around the highest LEED standards which require that buildings incorporate sustainable materials and a waste and energy conscious approach to design. Though the project had financing issues that arose as a result of the 2008 financial crisis, these issues have been resolved and the project is on schedule.
When Jameson House is completed it will feature a number of innovative features that will be firsts for North America. One of the features that has been widely lauded and hyped is a co-generation plant. This bio-fuel powered system will partially generate heat and electricity for the building. Jameson House will also feature another first for Vancouver, a fully automated parkade that will retrieve cars in less than 90 seconds.
The Private Residences at Hotel Georgia
The Private Residences at Hotel Georgia is Vancouver's most interesting and anticipated luxury development. This project has two elements to it: a complete renovation of the iconic Hotel Georgia, and the construction of a 48 floor condominium tower beside it. The Hotel Georgia, after the renovation is finished, will become one of Delta’s premiere properties and without a doubt the most spectacular Hotels in the city.
When the project is complete, the Private Residences are sure to become Vancouver’s most sought after address as there has been immense interest from abroad.
Three Harbour Green Place
Three Harbour Green Place is a new 32 level development in Coal Harbour. Scheduled for completion in the spring of 2012, the building will be home to 81 apartments that combine luxury and functionality. Three Harbour Green also sits on the last vacant waterfront lot in Coal Harbour, and the completion of this building will mark the end of the transformation of the area.
What will set this building apart is the immense and spectacular views that residents will have of Stanley Park and the Northshore Mountains that residents will have.
These are only three of the projects that are currently under construction in Downtown Vancouver. While Vancouver lacks the pre-Olympics property boom, there will always be a demand for Vancouver furnished apartments.
